Thank you to all members and guests for your continued support of our chapter events.

2009 has been tough for everyone from a global economic recession to numerous telecommunications companies: consolidation, bankruptcy, downsizing, and layoffs. Our chapter has also been severely affected since we have lost all of our corporate sponsors and this has left us with no options except to modify our monthly meeting.

In the past, we have subsidized the cost of lunch heavily from corporation sponsorship. In the fact, the cost for lunch has been $5 since the mid-80’s for our chapter. Unfortunately we need to increase the cost for lunch to $10 for IEEE members and $15 for non-members due to our tremendous financial challenges. Life members will be continued free as an honor. As always there is no cost to attend the lunch program.

We are adding a short business session before technical presentation each month. Expect to hear local business leaders sharing their expertise and experience on job seeking, economics analysis, and business investment. We hope this new format will help our members better prepare themselves for this challenging new world. We appreciate your understanding, continued support and participation. Receipts are available to expense the cost of lunch or write this off as a tax deduction.

Our volunteer IEEE Dallas CVT will continue to work hard in securing great speakers and topics to provide insightful programs. Feel free to send me an email letting me know what you think or what you would like to see in the coming months.
